Watauga tailwater caddis hatch 4/17/07 - 4/18/07

April 19th, 2007 - Posted by Marty

Well Monday was rescheduled because of high muddy water but we fished Tuesday and Wednesday with great success. I had Dr. Skip Whitman and Mack McNeil of Elkin, NC on Tuesday. The day started out slow with higher than normal murky water and high pressure but as the day went on the water dropped and cleared and we had great success finishing the day out with app. 20 fish on dries in the last hour and a half. Wednesday was off with Mack again but this time with John Schell of Elkin, NC. The day was good from the start catching fish on nymphs until about 1pm then fishing dries until dark. We lost count but conservatively landing 40+ fish and long distance releasing many more. An awesome 2 days on the river!North Carolina Fly FishingNorth Carolina Fly FishingNorth Carolina Fly FishingNorth Carolina Fly FishingNorth Carolina Fly FishingNorth Carolina Fly Fishing
